ArtCraft Launcher: download and installation guide

Looking for an ArtCraft launcher? CraftLauncher is Eric Vogt’s independent tool for managing ArtCraft-family applications.

CraftLauncher is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by ArtCraft or Storytold. AdobeAlternatives.com is an independent directory, not an Adobe, ArtCraft, Storytold or launcher developer website. We do not develop or distribute the launcher.

What is CraftLauncher?

“ArtCraft launcher” is the search term; CraftLauncher is the current product name. It is a native Rust companion for installing, opening and updating compatible apps, not a creative editor itself. The applications have their own developers, licenses and support.

Download and source code

Use the repository for documentation and the release list for packaged downloads. This site does not host installers or start downloads. Source code is licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0 (Apache-2.0); that does not determine the licenses of managed apps.

Platforms and package availability

The checked release assets include the following packages. Availability is a snapshot, so check Releases before choosing a file.

  • Linux x86_64 and ARM64: tar.gz archives, DEB and RPM packages.
  • Windows x86, x64 and ARM64: portable ZIP archives and per-user setup.exe installers.
  • macOS Intel and Apple Silicon: universal DMG and tar.gz app archive.
  • FreeBSD x86_64: tar.gz archive.

README packaging targets are broader than runtime proof. Its optional launcher AppImage is not among the checked release assets. The maintainer documents local Linux x86_64 X11/Wayland checks; other native CI targets do not establish complete desktop or installer testing. See the validation record for untested baselines.

How to get started

  1. Open GitHub Releases and read the release notes, including signing limitations.
  2. Choose a packaged installer or archive matching your OS and CPU. GitHub’s “Source code” archives are development sources, not ready-to-run installers.
  3. Use the matching installer or unpack the portable archive, following the project’s package notes. If system security blocks it, consult the maintainer; this guide does not advise bypassing protections.
  4. Open CraftLauncher and review available apps. Use Install for a managed installation; use Download selected only when you want to save packages.

Installing applications vs downloading packages

Download selected saves compatible upstream packages to your chosen folder without installing them. Install extracts and registers an app in the managed library, from which it can be launched. Application updates respect automatic-update settings and version pins; prepared updates wait for a running app to close. Launcher self-updates are separate: the documented feed is local and requires your own signing key, not a ready-made trusted public update service.

Availability and limitations

A missing compatible upstream release makes an app unavailable for installation; opening its source or linking an existing installation remains possible. A launcher package for your OS does not guarantee every app is available there. The release notes say Windows packages lack Authenticode signing and macOS packages are ad-hoc signed, not notarized. CI success is not a safety certification or a guarantee for every graphics environment.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an official ArtCraft launcher?

No. Eric Vogt identifies CraftLauncher as an independent project with no ArtCraft or Storytold affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement. This directory is independent too.

Where can I find the source code and releases?

Use the GitHub source and release links above. The repository remains EricVogt93/artcraft-launcher, while the product is named CraftLauncher.

Which operating systems have available packages?

The checked assets cover Linux x86_64/ARM64, Windows x86/x64/ARM64, universal macOS and FreeBSD x86_64. Package formats and runtime qualification differ; consult the platform section and current release notes.

Why is an application unavailable?

CraftLauncher needs an upstream release asset matching the detected operating system and architecture. An incompatible or unpublished package cannot be selected for download or managed installation.

Does downloading a package install the application?

No. Download selected saves the original package. Install is the separate managed-installation action.
